Somebody say brunch options?
This wonderful place was recommended to me, so of course we went to try it! This brunch location is better known as "The Egg Bistro" located in Virginia. This restaurant has multiple locations, but we visited the Strawbridge location located in Virginia Beach, VA, which wasn't too far from the Norfolk premium outlets for all my shoppers.
During this trip to The Egg Bistro, I ordered one of their popular items, the Cinnamon swirl French toast meal. This meal consisted of French toast, eggs, a meat choice and either hashbrowns or grits. My choosing's were scrambled eggs, turkey sausage links, and hashbrowns. The Cinnamon swirl French toast were absolutely incredible, the flavoring was not as overwhelming as you may think from the name of it, and they were very soft. They come served with butter, powdered sugar, syrup and whipped cream (which can all be removed or substituted). I will say, if you aren't a fan of very soft, wet bread, this may not be the meal for you, because once you pour syrup on it, it becomes very soggy. However, you can either eat fast or put syrup on each bite, or eat the middle first, whatever works for you.
The scrambled eggs and hashbrowns were good, the turkey sausage links were fantastic. As far as additional options for this meal, they have so many, the list could go on for days. You can easily substitute anything from this meal with gluten free, healthy and/or vegan options. You can add things to the French toast such as blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, pecans, Oreo pieces, and chocolate chips, etc. The eggs can be poached, over easy, egg whites, etc. and the meat could have been replaced with bacon, peppered bacon, Canadian bacon, pork sausage links/patties, turkey, ham, corned beef hash, etc. So yes, they definitely have some of everything for everybody.
As far as their entire menu goes, they sell different things from healthy options (avocado toast, yogurt parfait, etc.), pancakes (which can also be infused with their topping options), waffles, French toast, benedicts, biscuits & gravy, country fried steak, bagels, etc. They even have a kid's menu, limited time offer menu, lunch menu that consist of things from burgers and chili to salads and hot sandwiches. Their drink menu consists of coffee, tea, juice, fountain drinks, water, wine and their popular mimosa flights (which is 4 glasses of different flavored mimosas served to you on a tray at once).
The service at this location was really good, the waitress we had was quick and efficient, knew the menu and handled any small inconveniences very well and with a smile. We got in, got out, the food was hot and very delicious, and the service was great, definitely my kind of place.
Overall, 10/10, highly recommend! I would definitely go back to this location to try other things from the menu, you should try it too!
