It is okay, everybody goes through a moment in time where they are indecisive...
I have no idea what it is with me and chicken and waffles... especially if the chicken is cooked well. So, it was a no brainer for me to go to this particular place and order the chicken and French toast dish.
This tasty place is called Midnight Diner located in Charlotte, NC where their specialty is American, Brunch dishes. They are a 24-hr location and are typically packed, especially on a weekend, late at night, when most places are closed. By the time we arrived there was a small wait, but they also checked on us consistently and made sure that a table was found and cleaned for us in a timely manner. The people in Midnight Diner, everybody from the hostess and servers to the cooks had such great energies and personalities, they had music playing and everybody was laughing and a few of the workers were dancing. I absolutely love to see people having fun, especially at work, because sometimes, you can be having a hard day and still have to service others but to be able to still smile, is such a strength.
Our server was no different, she was absolutely amazing, very friendly, and even found herself joining in with us, singing some of the lyrics to the songs playing. She offered great recommendations to us, made sure our drinks were always filled and our needs were met. The food came out fairly fast, and we were able to enjoy the food and the atmosphere. However, I highly recommend, if you get cold fast, make sure to bring a light jacket with you because it did get cold.
The fried chicken was cooked very well, it wasn't overly crispy, had the right amount of seasoning to give it the exact burst of flavor that it needed. Under the skin of the chicken, it was very juicy and tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly. This paired well with the perfectly cooked French toast that I ordered. It had just the right amount of crisp around the edges while still maintaining the soft insides, covered in powdered sugar, served with butter, then I also drizzled syrup on top and it was absolutely amazing. They also serve buttermilk biscuits and gravy which was really good as well, especially the freshly baked biscuits that just melted in your mouth because of the very soft and fluffy texture of the biscuits.
Everything on the menu is pretty much priced below $20, the highest on the menu were the steaks that you could also order. They also sell other breakfast items such as pancakes, grits, sausages (with the option of turkey sausages/bacon), omelets, waffles, etc. Their dinner items consist of spaghetti, chicken tenders, burgers, chicken wings, etc. They also have salad options for anyone who would prefer it. Their menu was a huge plus to the experience because they have so many options for everything and for everybody.
Overall, this was a great place, I would definitely go back and try other things, 10/10, highly recommend!
