I said I was emphasizing how much of a big deal chicken and waffles were in Houston, TX, lol, because it's definitely a thing as you can see. This wonderful dish pictured above was from a place called Chick'NCone.
But before we talk food, you know we have to talk about the service at this location. The service was definitely a 10/10, from the time we walked through the door. The gentleman that was there at the time of our visit was absolutely amazing, he welcomed us when we came in, he went over a few of their popular items and helped with recommendations for us, and he also continuously checked on us during the time we there, since we did decide to eat in. He was very nice the entire duration we were visiting and was really funny, my best friend and I definitely enjoyed our visit.
Now, let's talk food, we ordered the traditional Chick'NCone, which is what they are known for. This Chick'NCone consist of a hardened waffle cone, much like the cones used when ordering ice cream. The cone was then topped with buttermilk fried chicken bites then drizzled with a sauce of your choosing. They offered many different sauces including Sweet BBQ, Kick'n Ranch, South African Chili, your traditional Maple syrup and many others. My best friend and I were torn in between traditional BBQ or Tangy Mustard Based BBQ, so our amazing server chose between the two for us. He decided the Tangy Mustard Based BBQ would be best for us to try because it was a popular seller and it was also his favorite, so that's what we went with.
However, I'm not a big fan of mustard, but we all know why I tried it.... FOR THE EXPERIENCE! Plus, it was tangy mustard that was BBQ based, so I wasn't expecting much of a mustard taste. It definitely wasn't, it really did have a tangy taste, there were hints of BBQ, but the aftertaste was exactly the taste of honey mustard. So, while I didn't care much for the sauce, my best friend loved it. I will say, it worked well with the chicken bites, however, it still isn't something I would necessarily order on my own. The chicken, however, was really good, nice, fresh, and tender. And, the waffle, was absolutely amazing, it was nice and sweet and reminded me of a cookie brittle.
They also sell Chick'Nsandwiches and Chick'Ntenders and you can also make it a meal by getting a side of Cajun shoestring fries and a drink. It was nice that the entire menu consisted of fork free foods, quick and simple grab snacks, which is very convenient.
Overall, I would rate this dish a 9/10, the only thing I would change is maybe trying a different sauce next time. But I would go back, for sure, especially to try the Chick'Ntenders with their Cinna-maple sauce. So, in the end, I would say, go and try this amazing dish and choose one of their many sauces.
