This amazing dish pictured was just that.... AMAZING!!!! It was so good, definitely worth the money, and very plentiful, so plentiful that I didn't even get to finish this dish. This wonderfully made meal was from the infamous Turkey Leg Hut located in Houston, Texas.
Now, this was one of the main places we were told about before we arrived in Texas from so many people who had heard about it. However, once we arrived in Texas, everyone said it was very overrated and was not worth going to, which is to be expected from someone who resides there. But, of course, it was our first time, so we were going to at least try it, yall already know why.... FOR THE EXPERIENCE, of course. Once we arrived at the turkey leg hut, this place was so packed, and I literally mean that! They have a big building where you can go inside to sit and eat, they also have the area where you can wait on food, they have another area of tents for outside eating, and they also have another area where you can order food at the food truck!
With that being said, I was being the odd ball out because with a place called "The turkey leg hut" and it being the first time, you would think I would order a turkey leg first, lol. Well, the first meal I ordered was just sounding so delightfully tasty, that I had just had to see for myself. And, I say first meal because we definitely ordered a few things off the menu because, you know, I have to give you options, right? lol.
But let's talk food, what I purchased the first time was the Cajun Bowl. This bowl consisted of half spicy dirty rice, half Cajun crawfish and shrimp mac & cheese, with fried chicken breast, topped with alfredo sauce. Right out the gate, let's talk about this mac & cheese, because it was absolutely top notch amazing! I may be a little bias because my favorite food is mac & cheese, however, this was my first time having some of the cheesiest mac & cheese with crawfish and shrimp included. The Cajun seasoning was definitely everything it needed to be in the mac & cheese, however, if you don't like spicy, this may not be the dish for you. But everything about the mac & cheese was absolutely amazing, from the crawfish and grilled shrimp to the perfectly cooked jumbo shells cooked in the amazing cheesy sauce, it was everything it needed to be.
This meal also came with another side dish, which was their spicy dirty rice. I, personally, loved the dirty rice, I felt like the entire meal came together really well with the usage of the side dishes. But, this rice, was perfectly cooked, it was nice and soft, a really good proportion, and was seasoned very well. The chicken breast was also very flavorful and tender, and it completed the entire meal.
The funniest thing is, being that this was a Cajun bowl, the entire dish was filled with spice, so over time of eating this meal, the "heat" definitely builds up. But instead of looking for something to drink, I would eat the mac & cheese, and once that became too much, I would switch over and eat the CAJUN rice. In what world did I think that I could cool my burning mouth by eating another spicy dish, yeah.... don't be like me, lol.
Overall, definitely 10/10, highly recommend this entire dish..... if you can handle spicy that is! But I would say, even if you have never been, you should go, just to try it because... why not?!
